I was first contacted by Adam on March 29, 2018.  This FG-360 is the 59th Japanese model we know of and number 90 overall.

Hi David,   I just bought a Yamaha FG 360 NG and wanted to add a write-up on it to your list from folks who have also done this.   I just wanted to see if this email contacted you before I write more and send it.  When I clicked on the contact link on the page it tried to open a program that I don't use and don't know how to connect with.   I got this email from your website design page.

Thanks for the great work on putting together the FG360 page!

I just go mine and love it.  It's a 1974 FG360 NG.  I got it at guitar center for $400.  Not a great deal money wise, but a great deal guitar wise!  I bought it based on how nice it played at the store, your comments, and the many other comments on how great a guitar it is...and it is!

I'll write more and send photos once I hear back from you confirming this email is correct.

Thanks,

Adam Tyksinski

His second email read ...

Thanks David for this website and the research you have done, as well as having a place where other FG360 owners can tell their story.

Here's mine;   I was at a Guitar Center just browsing the acoustic guitar room and I saw a used Yamaha with a 'Vintage' tag on it, the price was $399.00.   I gave it a few strums and right away I was impressed by the sound and solid feel.  I have a Martin D 28 and I thought "Wow, this sounds and feels like my Martin!".   I took a photo of the label inside with my phone.  I went home and did some online research and came upon David's website.  After reading David's remarks, the history,  and the many glowing reviews from other FG360 owners I knew I had to have that FG 360!   I went back the next day and bought it.  It's a 1974 Nippon Gakki model, made in Japan, with the 'NK' letters stamped inside below the label.  It's in pretty good condition, with a few minor nicks, scratches on the front and back.  At some point in it's life the original Yamaha tuners were replaced with Grover tuners.  The neck and action are perfect and it doesn't need any setting up.  Many folks in their reviews have compared the sound and feel of the FG360 to a Martin.  I would agree.  It has a very similar fullness, tone and bass of the D28.

Price-wise, I think the $399 I paid was more or less market price.  However guitar-wise it was a great find.  It's a wonderful sounding and playing guitar with a unique and interesting history.

That's it David,  Thanks again!

Adam
