Michael Dodd

I received my first e-mail from Michael Dodd on July 5, 2013.

Here is his story ...

Hello David.
I was happy to find your investigations of your Yamaha FG 360. It has been difficult, to say the least, discovering any information concerning this particular model in the past.
I purchased my FG 360 from its original owner in 1977. He didn't know much about it. The serial number is 40419 ((according to your information, built in 1974, April 19th). The label reads Nippon Gakki, made in Japan, and has the NK stamp. How about that? The back and sides appear to be laminates though all comprised of coral rosewood. The top is definitely laminated spruce. The neck is rather heavy with respect to the rest of the guitar (an over size truss rod?). This has been my primary steel string all these years. I like it better than a 1978 Martin D 35 I once owned, although that's comparing apples and oranges.
I hope this information is of use to you.
Regards,
Michael Dodd

Our thanks to Michael for sharing his info.
