I received an e-mail from Andy Harvey on March 2, 2014. Here is his story:
Sir,
Just found your site, I am an original owner, circa 1974. I bought mine in
Calgary in the winter.
I worked in the Banff Springs Hotel that winter and saved up for this beautiful
guitar. There were many fine guitars in the store, but they put this one in my
hands and I was in love.
I think it sounded way better than the price. $450.00 CD . And it still
does.
As fate would have it, Jim Kuddy of Blue Rodeo was the ski storage dude at the
same time and Greg Keeler was at lake Louise. Lots of music played in the
residence that I recall.
My sn is 03717. The label also reads 10-1 Nakazawacho Hamamatsu , Japan.
On the spine inside ,just below the label, I can see a K letter as though the
builder put his own mark on it. I think it is a Japanese character and not a k
as the right of the symbol is more like a half moon and joined with a short bar
to the upright stick.
The top used to be white and is now a honey gold, it has aged perfectly. I can
say that it is near perfect condition. The fret board is ebony for sure,
and the neck looks like mahogany .No issues. A keeper.
I am surprised that they don't have a higher dollar value, but I guess some are
beat up badly.
