I was first contacted by
Helmut on February 10, 2024. This FG-360
is the 46th Taiwanese model and number 174 overall. At the
time of this writing, it is the newest Taiwanese guitar we have
found records on.
David:
I stumbled on your website recently. I’m a recently retired lawyer and lifelong music fan who dabbled in guitar in my teen years. My studies, then work and family all intervened, and I put the guitar away. I actually had two guitars at the time, the second one being a Yamaha FG-560 12-string. I hadn’t played either guitar in years, decades really, but was looking for things to do now that I have more time and pulled the guitars out. I took them to a guitar repair and fabrication shop for some setup and fretwork and they sound fantastic. I am studying guitar again after some 45 years. It’s great. I had no idea these guitars would now be considered “vintage” and read with interest your comments on the FG-360. I thought I’d let you add my guitar to your database. Mine was purchased in Ottawa, Canada (where I still reside) sometime in the mid-1970s. The guitar has a light tan label stating it was made in Taiwan. The serial number is 51003100. According to your analysis it was crafted on October 3rd, 1975. As you note, it’s unclear what the last three digits indicate about the guitar. There is a second number stamped at the base of the neck: 0764727. Again, it’s unclear what these numbers mean. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know of my guitar. Best regards. Helmut Brodmann Our thanks to Helmut for contacting us.
