Mike Lott's Yamaha FG-360

I received this e-mail from Mike Lott on November 21, 2011:

David, I enjoyed your website and reviews of the FG360, and those only reinforced my interest in finding one. As it turned out, I ended up with two. So, here's my story. As a 12 old I was bitten by the bug, and that was '65. Played a good deal over the years, but skipping long sections of playing once or twice a year. Choosing a few guitars to keep over time, I was down to only 4. FG335II, 64 strat, 78 Les Paul, old Conn.

From that point, about 80 guitars ago, I have really dug into the greatest Yamaha guitars I have found. I now have about 30 Yamaha guitars. Some of my favorites are FG-300, 350W, red label 180 (2 of them) FG345, and the FG-360.

Also have a room full of electrics, as well as some Yamaha APX guitars, LL6, Dynamic, and a whole bunch of fg75, 110, fg30ltd, 325, 310, 335, fg04ltd, etc.

So I found the FG-360 on eBay, and though it wasn't perfect, it was in pretty good shape. I watched it until the auction was ending and dropped a heavy bid on it, I think it was about $400.

Then, amazingly, I found another one listed in a Guitar Center ad for their vintage guitars. By calling Hollywood I found it was in Indiana, and speaking with the salesman he described it pretty well. So, I had bought 2 of them at once from 2 sources, and they both got here at the same time.
The GC guitar has a bit better wood pattern on the back, and they both sound terrific. I am thinking to sell one and keep one.

Thanks to Mike for sharing his story with us.
