I was first contacted by
Marco on April 16, 2020. This FG-360 would be the 77th Japanese model
that we know of
and number 121 overall. Greetings I ran across your site while searching for tuning machines for my FG 360. I bought my FG 360 new at Wheaton Music in Wheaton, MD in 1975, when I was a senior in high school. I remember I paid $300 including the case. I’ve had a few other guitars over the years, but always kept the FG. I’ve only been playing my Gibson WM45, because the FG’s tuning machines are falling apart. I was going to take it to a shop but the Covid-19 shutdown has me thinking about just doing the work myself. The tone on this thing is clear and crisp, even with strings that are probably a decade old. In addition to replacing the tuners, I intend to sand down the bridge and adjust the neck. If I’m feeling really ambitious, I might replace the bridge and the nut. The strings are just a little too close together for my 62-year old fingers. I used to think the neck was narrow, but it’s the same width as my Gibson – the strings are just closer together. I’m hoping I can find a bridge and nut that don’t have the grooves cut into them, so I can set the spacing the way I want. Let me know what you think about all of that. I’ve attached a few photos. Thanks for your thoughts. Marco Greenberg Our thanks to Marco for contacting us.
