The first email came from Brian Melnyk on January 3, 2016. Hi David, Thanks for a great site. I
found my FG-360 about 6 months ago, in a music shop in Winnipeg,
Canada. It caught my attention as it looked a bit vintage. I
picked it up and strummed it and was pretty surprised by it's
rich, well balanced tone. I took a few pics of the label and
serial and did a bit of research. Next day I promptly went back
to buy it, nervous that someone else had beat me to it. They
wanted $150 Canadian, but I negotiated $100 even. VERY good
deal! I have spent a lot of time working on it, filing the
frets, sanding a custom Tusq nut with a bit wider spread on the
strings (much better!), grover tuners, bone saddle hand-filed so
each string is properly intonated, filing channels in the bridge
to get a better string angle, put in ebony pins, etc, etc. Now
it plays as nice as it sounds. Very pleased! I am currently
looking to buy a high end acoustic, so I am playing a lot of
guitars, and I must say that the FG-360 probably sounds most
like the higher end Martin dreads. I am pretty sure the top is not solid as the grain
does not match all the way through, but it sure sounds like it!
Rosewood fingerboard. This guitar is a keeper. will try to send some pics! thanks, Our thanks to Brian for sharing this info.
