I was first contacted by
Mike on on April 5, 2023. This FG-360 would be the 41st Taiwanese built unit and number 163 overall that we know of. Hi!
My name’s Mike Griffin. I don’t have much information to add,
but I do have an FG 360 (SN 0620002 at the base of the neck,
Republic of China, Made in Taiwan on the yellow label). I bought
it from a thrift store in San Francisco called Community Thrift
in about 2000 for $11. It had no strings, no bridge piece, and
no string pegs. I bought new pegs and a bridge, shaped the
bridge by scraping it on concrete and ended up with a nice
working guitar for a few bucks. By far the best purchase in my
guitar history. It’s been my main acoustic for decades now
mostly because it sounds great!
Thanks for your work collecting information on these guitars. It’s fascinating to learn more about their history.

I wrote Mike back in regard to the serial number and this was his response ...
Hi David, thanks for the response!
I’ve looked again and it seems the numbers just inside the
sound hole must have been rubbed off. There’s a 5, and…
that’s it.
At the base of the neck there may be an imprint of a number
before the 0, and if it’s anything I’d say it might have
been a 5?
I tried to take pictures, but without removing the strings
it’s hard to get a clear shot. Next time I change strings
I’ll try to do that.
Thanks again!
Mike
