The first email came from Christopher on May 25, 2016.
Hello,
I was very happy to read your article about the Yamaha FG-360. My father bought his guitar in Hiroshima 40 years ago. The serial number is 30904. If there is any new information on this guitar, please let me know. Sincerely, Christopher Takashima Our thanks to Christopher for contacting us. Webmaster's note: This is a very curious situation. As discussed elsewhere on this website, there were two FG-360 series built. Those built prior to April 1973 had an 8 digit s/n and were not exported to the US. Those built between May '73 and July '74 carried a 5 digit s/n and were shipped to the US. The serial number on this guitar indicates that is was one that was sent to the US and yet it was purchased in Japan. In subsequent emails, Christopher has told us that his dad paid ¥30000 but doesn't remember if it was new or used. Our theory is that this guitar was actually purchased second-hand. Perhaps an American serviceman or woman took this guitar to Japan while deployed there. It was then either pawned or traded on something else and ended up in Mr. Takashima's possession.
