Cherry Pocket

Whenever we travel, Marcia will research the local area and find interesting things for us to do.  She found an article about the Cherry Pocket Fish Camp.  It is an out-of-the-way restaurant with a reputation for great food.  As it turns out, the reputation is more than right.  The food there is outstanding.  The place is somewhat of a local institution.  It is advertised as being in Lake Wales, but it is probably closer to Dundee.  We went there for lunch one weekday in February.

We didn't get any pictures when we were first there, but in a conversation with old friends Gary and Carol Wilcox, they told us that they had heard of it but had never been there.  On Sunday, March 15, they came to Winter Haven from their home in Zephyrhills to visit.  We drove out there for dinner.  Carol and David graduated from high school together and Gary was the year after.

While down here, Keith and Sharon Rose, old friends of David, introduced us to Dick and Connie Kingsbury.  Keith and Dick both graduated the year after David and Dick and Connie live just a couple of miles further out the Point from us.  We did a number of things with Dick and Connie while down here, including participating in several trivia contests at a Winter Haven sports bar.  We even place second (missed by one point) one night.  There were 21 teams!  On Sunday, March 22, Keith and Sharon drove down from Leesburg and the six of us went out to the Cherry Pocket.  They had been there before but Dick and Connie hadn't.  Most of us had never had alligator.  The second pic is of Connie trying that.  It was actually very good.
