The Villages
On the evening of Monday, March 9, we drove up to
the Villages in Lady Lake, Florida. This is a very popular
community where several of our friends have winter, and in some
cases, full-time homes. We stayed the night with Pete and
Chris Matejcik, Marcia's cousins and long-time close friends from
Edwards. We had dinner that evening with them and Gary and
Cindy Edick, former teachers who live in Gouverneur.
The next morning we got into golf carts, eight in
all, and spent the day driving around the community visiting the
various country clubs there. We had breakfast at one, lunch at
another, took an afternoon snack break at a yogurt shop and then had
dinner at still another place before heading back to Winter Haven
around 9 PM. My initial impression was that it was an excuse
to spend the day drinking, which wasn't all that much off the
mark. We did get a good tour of the Villages and had a lot of
fun. In addition to the Matejciks and Edicks, we had a chance
to spend some time with a number of old friends from the Gouverneur
and Edwards area.
