Florida Room Renovation

Shortly after buying our house we knew that we wanted to renovate the Florida room.  We wanted to extend our heating/AC unit into this room so that it would be usable more consistently.  We started in mid-January with the demolition and preparatory work.  We removed the vinyl siding that was on the wall toward the house and around the laundry room.  We insulated the outer walls and installed a number of electrical outlets.  We also put up nailing strips so that drywall could be attached to the outer walls, which were made of aluminum studding.  We put up a partition across where a hallway had been and put an archway in the wall in the laundry room.  The door that had been on the laundry room was removed and sold and the door that had been at the back of the house was removed and replaced the one that had been on the laundry room.

Nick Forbes, a former E-K student who has worked as a drywall finisher for over ten years now lives not far from us in Florida.  We called him in and helped him hang the drywall and then got out of his way when he taped and finished it.  After that, two coats of paint went on.  Casing, moldings and trim will come next.

The following pictures show the progress.
