Micky Dolenz
On February 24, we went to Busch Gardens
and attended the Micky Dolenz show. Dolenz was the
drummer for the Monkees which were a very popular pop
group in the 60s. Dolenz and Davy Jones were the
lead singers of the group, which was active between 1965
and 1971. In 1967, the Monkees outsold the Beatles
and Rolling Stones combined! Dolenz and Peter
Tork, another member of the group, have recently toured
together and they are sometimes joined by Mike Nesmith,
the other surviving member. Jones died in 2012.
At this performance, Dolenz was backed
by his band which included a lead guitar, bass guitar,
drummer and keyboardist. His sister provided
backing/harmony vocals and sang one song as a solo.
