The Platters
On January 26, we saw the Platters
perform at Busch Gardens. They were a highly
successful vocal group, usually classified as R&B, soul,
rock and roll and doo-wop. The original group was
active between 1954 and 1970, but the group, in one form
or another has been performing from 1954 to the present.
They had 40 charting singles between 1955 and 1967, with
four, number 1 hits. Some of their hits include
"Only You", "The Great Pretender", "Twilight Time",
"Harbor Lights" and "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes".
They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
in 1990. They put on a great show.
