Florida 2019Our trip south for the winter started a bit different this year. We left Pillar Point after church on the morning of Sunday, December 9, 2018. In anticipation of the arrival of our newest granddaughter, we were headed for Kristin and Mel's in the Winchester, Virginia area. We arrived there that evening. Emily Ruth Siebert was born two days later. We stayed there for about two weeks, helping out with Lilianna and the new baby, as well as some household chores and projects. We also spent Christmas with Mel's family. On the morning of December 26, we were headed south. We stayed with our friend Michael Shaw in the Atlanta area that night. Michael did his reading internship under Marcia and is now an administrator in the DeKalb County School District. Michael has become some what of an honorary little brother to us and we have stayed with him in the past at his condo. He recently bought a house and wanted us to see it. The next morning we were off to Zephyrhills and arrived that evening. We were looking forward to some new adventures this year because our good friends Dick and Connie Kingsbury were renting a home just across the street from us at Tippecanoe Village. Dick vowed to make our lives "a living hell"! Despite that, it was a great winter season. We enjoyed many outings with friends. Miranda and Aaron spent a week with us starting at the end of January. Marjorie and Margaret came for their annual visit. Margaret only stayed a few days but Marjorie stayed in Florida for a few weeks. After a few days with us, she spent some time with other friends before coming back to our place for a couple of days and then headed back north. David, Zoe and the kids came down in February. On Thursday, April 11, we started our trip back north. We stayed near Greer, South Carolina the first night. Michael and Debbie's son Ryan, and his wife Heather had a baby girl earlier in the month. Mike and Deb were down visiting them, and since their home is not far at all off our route, we stopped and had dinner with them. The next day we were again northbound and landed that night in Virginia. We wouldn't normally have come home this early in the year, but Emily Ruth was scheduled to be baptized on Palm Sunday, April 14. The next day, were again on the road and were back on Pillar Point that evening.
