Super Moon
During the overnight hours of
March 20, we experienced a super moon. According
to several on-line reports, this full moon coincided
with the first full moon of spring for the Northern
Hemisphere and is considered a supermoon because it is
particularly close to earh. It arrives less than
four hours after the arrival of the March 20 spring
equinox. These reports further state that this is
the closest coincidence of a full moon with the spring
equinox since March 2000, nineteen years ago, and the
next occurence of this happening less than one day apart
won't be for another eleven years in March 2030.
This was a very cloudy night with
occasional breaks showing blue skies in the background.
There wasn't a clear view of the moonlit sky but every
few minutes the moon would appear through the clouds.
These pictures were taken with a Canon
60D camera. I first 24 or so and the last 9 or ten
photos were taken with a Canon EFS 18-250 mm lens and
the others were shot with a Sigma 150-600 mm zoom lens.
