Our trip to Ireland ... September 2012

Day 4 ... Thursday, September 20

After breakfast at the hotel, we jumped on the bus.  Actually we were a little late.  The tour guide had to call us to see if we were going on it.  All four of us had forgotten that we signed up for this optional tour.  Once we did get going, we enjoyed a tour of a couple of areas of Ireland.  We traveled through the countryside of Wicklow and went to Powerscourt where there are formal gardens promoted as Ireland's most beautiful.  We had lunch at the cafe there.  From here we went to Glendalough, an area where St. Kevin founded Ireland's most important monastery in the sixth century.  St. Patrick is well known to be the patron saint of Ireland.  Actually, the country has three patron saints.  St. Kevin is another.  The third we will encounter later!  We did enjoy the day even though we had planned on touring the Jameson plant and missed it as a result!

This was a full-day tour and we got back to Dublin just before dinner.  We ate at a pub called the Old Storehouse where there was a very good musician playing.  Marcia had Guinness Stew and David had bangers and mash.  They were both very good.

These pictures were all taken in Dublin.

on to day 5
