Our trip to Ireland ...
September 2012
Day 10 ... Wednesday, September 26
After breakfast today, we took an optional tour to a region
known as the Burrens. This is an area where the higher
elevations have very little foliage. As part of this tour,
we visited the Cliffs of Moher. These cliffs rise 600 to 700
straight out of the ocean.
This was a full-day tour and at the end, we had dinner as a
group at the hotel.
One of the pictures in this array is of an Irish license plate
(Republic of Ireland). As a license plate fan, David was
interested in figuring out the significance of their plates.
The first two digits indicate the year of the vehicle. The
next group may be one or two letters and represents where the
plate was issued. This one is a "D" which means it
was issued in Dublin. The final number group is the
registration number for that year. In Ireland the plate
stays with the vehicle.
These photos were taken at the Cliffs of Moher, the Burrens and
in Galway City.
