Lighthouses
David and Marcia share an attraction for lighthouses. We enjoy visiting them and
learning about their history.
Lighthouses have played a big role
in the history of our country, providing guidance to boats
bringing our ancestors to this country and transporting goods
along our coasts. There are several northern New York
lighthouses quite close to where we live.
If you hover your mouse on the map, the pointer will change to
a hand and the state name will pop up to indicate a hyperlink for any state for which we have a lighthouse page.
This page is a work in progress.
As time permits, we will be creating pages dedicated to the
lighthouses that we have visited. At this point, we have
pages for Connecticut, Florida,
Hawaii, Maine,
Michigan, North Carolina,
New Jersey, New York,
Ohio, Rhode Island,
South Carolina, Virginia
and Wisconsin. Outside the US, we have also visited lighthouses in the
Bahamas
and Mexico, and in Canada, in both the provinces of
British Columbia
and Ontario.
We considered the idea of adding a map for each of the
lighthouses we have visited but there is no point in trying to
reinvent the wheel. The website www.lighthousefriends.com
already includes this.
