Myrtle Beach ... April 2010

2010 marked the year that we returned to the beach area for our annual Myrtle Beach trip.  The time-share thing was starting to create issues so we got out from under it.

Marcia got an unexpected day off from school so we were on our way a day earlier than planned.  In addition, we were on the road by 4:15 that morning so we decided to drive straight through to MB.  We stayed eight nights rather than seven at the Boardwalk which is on North Ocean Boulevard.  We had stayed at this hotel a couple of different times in the 90's.  We opted for an ocean view rather than an ocean front, simply because we don't spend a lot of time in the room.

On Monday, April 12, we visited the Wheels of Yesteryear Car and Truck Museum.  This was opened in the fall of 2009 and I was so impressed with it, I decided to create a page dedicated to it.

The next day, we drove down to Murrells Inlet and went on the marshwalk.  They have a pier that lines the area that provides a nice stroll through the marsh where you can view the wildlife.  We parked on one end.  The entire walk out and back was just a little over a mile.

While paused, you can click the left or right arrow buttons to manually go through the slideshow, either backward or forward. Clicking the "play" button will put it back in automatic mode where pictures will advance about every nine seconds.

On Friday, we met up with Larry and Pat Young, a married couple who are retired teachers who used to teach with David.  We went to the Hyman Winery in Conway for a tasting and then went out to dinner with them.

We were on the road by 5:30 Saturday morning.  We drove up to Virginia where we visited a number of lighthouses.  We also drove across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, which we have never done before.  We stayed in Dover, Delaware that night and then headed back to Edwards on Sunday.
