Marcia really liked her Grand Prix so we decided to get another
one for her. While looking, we decided to get a second one
for David. Marcia had considered a blue one when we bought the '04 but the
blue she wanted was only available in the GTP in 2004. By the next year the
Grand Prix came in a blue-green crystal. It is a color
previously reserved for the Corvette. If you look at it
straight on, it is a deep blue. As you look at an angle
across the car, it is a medium green. David's was black
no matter which way you look at it.
Essentially, these two cars were the same. In addition to the color
difference, the spoiler on the trunk lid of the black one was
stock whereas the blue one had an optional GT spoiler. The black
one also had an electric lumbar control on the driver's seat,
dark charcoal interior and
an AM-FM-MP3 stereo system. The blue one had a light
fabric interior. We had the same sound system
installed on it and it didn't have the power lumbar. Both cars were picked up on August 13, 2005 at Mort Backus
and Sons in Lisbon, New York. The slideshow above is of
pictures that were taken at the dealer when we picked the cars
up. The Bonneville that was traded is in one of the
shots. The slide shows below show these two cars. Hovering your mouse on any of these slideshow will
pause that show until you move your mouse off the picture. By
July 2010, David's
black Grand Prix had over 90,000 miles on it. It was traded on July 12, 2010 on a 2009
Cadillac CTS. When Marcia retired in June 2012, we
decided we really didn't need two daily drivers and a truck so we
decided to sell the Marcia's Grand Prix. On July 25, 2012,
with just short of 87,000 miles on the odometer, it went to a new owner. We will still be able to see it
occasionally because it was bought by a grandson of one of our
neighbors. Looking back, maintenance and
reliability-wise, these two cars were some of the best cars we
have ever owned.
Marcia's especially was an exceptionally good car.
