Florida 2018Since we are now officially snowbirds, this is more of a record of things that happened when we were there rather than actual travel. We now leave northern New York the morning after Christmas and arrive in Zephyrhills the evening of December 27. This year, we packed the car and had it all ready to go. We did our normal Christmas things with the family driving the truck, BUT ... As we got back to the house from St. Lawrence County on Christmas evening, the weather was taking a bad turn. The forecast was not good at all so we decided it was a good idea to take the truck south. We unpacked the car and transferred it all into the truck. As it turns out, this was a good idea. The next morning, although it was clear on Pillar Point, there was a three foot snowdrift in front of the garage. Being of the philosophy that this is why they make four-wheel drive, we just drove through it. We were on the road before 6:00 AM and everthing was fine. At least it was fine until we got into the Adams area on I-81. Within a couple of miles, it was white-out conditions. We trudged along at reduced speeds until just about Pulaski when things started to clear. It was fine from there on out. We stayed in Statesville, North Carolina area the first night. Since we got further south the first day than usual, we figured we would get to Zephyrhills earlier. WRONG! Traffic on I-95 was absurd and fewer miles on day two turned into a longer day. We arrived at our home in Zephyrhills at 8:42 PM. To see pictures that we took this year ...
