I was a member of the mathematics department
at the Edwards-Knox
Central School and the former
Edwards Central School
for 33 years, from 1973 until my retirement in 2006. I did
spend six years in administration at ECS including about seven months as
the Superintendent of Schools there. The majority
of my time is now spent relaxing, making wine, relaxing, making beer,
relaxing, working on small projects at home, relaxing and enjoying
our summer home on Pillar Point, and in
the winter, our new home in Zephyrhills, Florida.
First elected in 1989, I served on the Edwards Town
Board through 2009. I am also President of the Board of Directors
of the HERD Community
Network, Inc. and have been active in several community events. I
run a web site design and maintenance service,
Fourth
Coast Creations. In addition to maintaining close to 50
commercial accounts, I am also the webmaster of several websites of
local organizations.
For recreation and relaxation, I enjoy playing guitar,
traveling, lighthouses
and waterfalls.
I have been a licensed
radio amateur (ham radio operator) since 1983 and have held the
call NR2S since 1986. A motorcyclist most of my life, we have now gotten
rid of all of our bikes and are now focusing
on four wheel fun. I also
play and sing at a jam session held weekly in Dexter.
A native of Watertown, I am a 1969 graduate of Watertown High School.
I received an AAS in Mathematics and Science from
Jefferson Community
College in 1971, a BS in Secondary Mathematics Education from
SUNY Oswego in
1973, an MEd in Educational Administration from
St. Lawrence University
in 1976 and a CAS in Educational Administration from SLU in 1982.
I hold New York State teaching certification in the areas of Mathematics
7-12 and Elementary Education N-6 and the New York State SDA administrative
certificate.
